Who Controls the Middle East by a Reader from Maryland, posted on Tuesday, Sep 30, 2003 Before reading this book, I was possibly naive in my outlook, thinking the Middle East was composed of separate countries that contend fairly through diplomacy and war for control of its fate. Today my eyes have been opened. For instance, I learned of a Mossad ploy to assassinate a PLO representative, just as he was about to make contact with Israeli diplomats and talk peace in 1981. Barring that attempt by the PLO to prevent war, the Mossad eased the conscience of the Israeli government as it launched an all-out war in Lebanon that left tens of thousands of victims. The same Mossad we learn planted false messages and bombs to blame on Libya, starting an age-old animosity between Libya and the United States that lasted almost to this day, based on little but falsified evidence. Written by an ex-Mossad operative, this book exposes (with a horrified tone) how even the government of Israel itself has little control over the Mossad. Intriguing reading.

A suspenseful read by an ex-Mossad agent exposing it all by a Reader from Washington, DC, posted on Friday, Jul 8, 2011 An disgruntled Mossad agent leaves the famous Israeli spy agency and is recruited by a clique inside the agency that wants to change it. Exciting ans suspenseful, this page-turner reads like a top-notch spy story, except it is all real. While describing how he risked his life to take down the rogue elements of the Mossad and bungle their missions, Victor Ostrovsky also exposes the workings of the agency, their not-so pleasant dealings and the politics involved. Learn about biological weapons experiments on blacks in South Africa, Israeli weapons sales to Khomeini's Iran, and an attempted assassination of George H. Bush, among many other shockers.
